walt & dave - the depth ep - vigilante records detroit 1995

on a visit to fat cat records in 1995, the record of the week was walt and dave - the depth ep on vigilante records. this record blew me away then and still does. during this very productive period for detroit techno and house this release stood out from the others due to its unique sound - quite raw and lofi but immensely deep and beautiful. it was produced by walt jones and dave peoples and was their first duo production, the second release dimensional planes was more of their unique sound and is also a killer. they recorded many different solo projects, most are essential. check out the autonomy by the specialist on making madd records, reflection by walt j on dow and also the walt j project on professional records.

two long gone detroit artists who produced some stunning and unique detroit techno and house.

heard that he went all religious and gave up on music altogether, not sure how true that is mind.

    1. went all religious? I got saved, but I left the bizz because I got married and had a family, I also pursued my passion of video/film. Looking to make some new stuff soon.
